About Us
We understand that your dog is part of your family. At Lucky Pups Pet Wash, they will be part of our family too. Lucky Pups Pet Wash is a family-owned business under Lucky Pups, LLC, with one location in Chesapeake, Virginia. It is owned by Karen Peron, a native of Portsmouth and resident of Chesapeake. We are the place to go for a clean and well groomed pet whether you want to bathe your pet yourself or let one of us do it! We offer a do-it-yourself or self-service option for bathing your pet or we have full service baths as well as full grooming services.
Karen is bathing her own dog, Eva Peron. Eva doesn't look too happy about it but she was so soft and smelled so good after her bath!
Owner, Karen Peron, has had a life-long love of animals, having grown up with dogs, guinea pigs, fish,rabbits, and horses. She worked during high school and college in a veterinarian’s office as a receptionist and occasional helper and gained valuable animal experience. She and her family currently own a German Shepherd named Eva, a shepherd/husky mix named Nakita, two cats named Boo and Patches, and lots of chickens, ducks, rabbits, and even pigs!
The reason Lucky Pups was started was Karen had a beagle named Suzie Q. Suzie was really sweet but had a real hound dog smell. And nothing would make her happier than to find a dead frog or something in the road and roll in it! So Suzie needed frequent baths. Going to the groomer is expensive! So Karen would always wash Suzie at home but what a pain! It took longer to clean the bathroom after the bath than to actually give the bath! And so many dirty towels and bath mats. So now our customers will not have to go through all that. They can wash their dog in our facility and we will clean the mess for them! Suzie Q sadly passed away in June 2012 with cancer. But her legacy lives on! She is the beagle in the logo!

Meet Eva! She is Karen's very own Lucky Pup!
At Lucky Pups Pet Wash, we believe in making a difference, however small that difference might be. We support local whenever possible. (Check out our Dog On Bags, made right in Portsmouth, Virginia!) We buy Made in the USA products whenever possible. We research every product and every company we consider purchasing from and we seek out companies that share our values. We support animal shelters and groups that help animals. We will have several adoption days throughout the year. We want to do all we can to help animals in need and give back to the community whenever possible.
Each month we will feature a Lucky Pup of the Month. We want our customers to submit their pet’s story of resilience and we will select one each month to be our Lucky Pup of the Month. This Lucky Pup will be featured on our website with their story of how they went through a difficult time, either neglect, mistreatment, abuse, illness, injury, etc and persevered and now lives the life of a king! Or we may select a lucky pup, not because they have been through anything bad but because they are just very lucky to be so loved and well cared for. The Lucky Pup of the Month will be a VIP (Very Important Pup) and will get a free DIY bath and 10% off of everything all month long.
